Uncle Silas is a Victorian Gothic novel by Irish author Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu about a 17 year old orphan girl named Maud who is left to live with her mysterious uncle.

Maud is sent to live with her uncle Silas in the claustrophobic Bartram-Haugh house after her father dies. Silas is a reformed Christian who has a reputation for gambling debts and past accusations of murder. He plots with his son and a French governess to kill Maud and claim her fortune.
